About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Visit end-user customers with field staff and provide feedback to factories and dealers to improve service quality and customer satisfaction
  • Conduct quarterly update calls with dealers regarding factory initiatives
  • Resolve customer problems involving perceived premature product failure using established policy assistance
  • Conduct training seminars at end-customer locations on safe and proper operation of Elgin and Vactor products
  • Participate in scheduled team calls with internal Federal Signal staff
  • Provide sales support through technical review of application inquiries
  • Inspect dealer technical information libraries and train dealers to locate technical information
  • Train, develop, and assist dealers with service tools, systems, warranty claims, and new-machine startup documents
  • Maintain a database of dealership service technicians and training levels
  • Review dealer compliance with warranty policies, procedures, and claim-submission standards
  • Ensure dealers complete service and product safety campaigns
  • Review and explain returned and rejected claims with dealer management
  • Report visit findings, accomplishments, and follow-up needs to management
  • Document service problems in the ESG Service Cloud system
  • Perform annual service evaluations and develop corrective action plans with dealer management and the ESG Dealer Development Team
  • Verify dealer warranty retention systems and inspect warranty parts
  • Provide technical maintenance and repair training to dealership personnel and end users
  • Assist dealer technicians in troubleshooting and repairing Elgin Sweeper, Vactor, and Truvac products
  • Repair direct-channel equipment when other repair resources are unavailable
  • Supervise dealer technicians in repairing products and solving problems
  • Perform other assigned duties, assignments, and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or better
  • 5 years of vehicle service experience, vehicle repair, fluid power, electronics, or related technologies
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing Elgin Sweeper, Vactor, and Truvac products
  • Ability to provide technical maintenance and repair training
  • Ability to use service tools, systems, warranty claim systems, and service documentation
  • Ability to review technical applications and support sales
  • Ability to supervise and develop dealer technicians
  • Ability to travel to dealer and end-user customer locations as required by the duties
