About the role

  • Grow and lead a high-performing engineering team
  • Design robust systems and shape engineering culture
  • Spend ~30% time on design, reviews, and coding
  • Mentor, coach, and support engineers at all levels
  • Define roles, responsibilities, performance processes, and lead annual reviews and salary calibrations
  • Maintain engineering career framework and compensation grid
  • Lead strategic technical initiatives (AI adoption, developer experience, knowledge sharing)
  • Ensure strong delivery, system design, scalability, code quality, and documentation
  • Shape technical roadmap with product, design, and business leads
  • Run knowledge-sharing efforts and organize team rituals
  • Plan team growth and lead recruitment efforts

Requirements

  • Comfortable across the stack with working knowledge of DevOps, cloud providers, and application security
  • Able to contribute to codebase (TypeScript, NestJS, React, Next.js)
  • Experience managing high-performing engineering teams (~15 people or larger), ideally in a startup or scale-up
  • Systems thinking in tech architecture and org design
  • Strong opinions, loosely held; advocates for best practices and listens
  • People and process-oriented; ability to coach and give feedback
  • Experience with GCP, TypeScript, Terraform, Prisma
  • Experience in recruitment and leading hiring processes
  • No degree required; experience valued
