Medical Records Specialist

• Reviewing and processing requests for medical records by patients and authorized third parties
• Scheduling depositions and conferences with providers and/or the Medical Records Custodian
• Reviewing all requests for appropriateness of release and obtain authorization as required
• Identifying and appropriately complies with release of records requiring special handling
• Filing all properly executed authorizations to release confidential information in the medical record
• Processing medical records and billing information requests and submit to requester in a timely manner
• Maintaining medical records request tracking log
• Performing other duties as assigned

Manager

• Oversee the team responsible for the fulfillment of medical record requests
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines
• Manage department team members and oversee training
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect clinic operations by keeping information confidential
• Act as a liaison for the Billing Department
