About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Performs a variety of welding functions
- Completes weekly, daily, and monthly 5S tasks
- Moves parts in and moves finished product out of welding area
- Lifting more than 50 lbs. is performed by two employees or mechanical assistance is required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily
- Familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings
- Connects cables from welding unit to obtain specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse
- Guides electrode or gun along weld line
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
- Examine weld for bead size and specifications
- Repair broken or cracked parts
- Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble in jigs or fixtures
- Select torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to specifications
- Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter
- Clean or de-grease parts
