About the role

  • Conduct field based investigations by visiting policyholders’ homes to investigate property damage.
  • Use claims handling software, a company car and laptop to determine claims related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
  • Investigates, determines liability, confirms coverage, establishes damages, and negotiates settlement of claims.
  • Adjusts all types of claims and inspects damaged property to estimate repair or replacement costs.
  • Determine and report on subrogation potential; initiate sale of salvage and miscellaneous salvage items.
  • Report theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.
  • Represent the Company from a public relations standpoint and conduct oneself as a member of Management.
  • Maintain claim status reporting and perform duties primarily on an individual basis.
  • Employees on the Catastrophe team will travel away from residence for specified periods (usually consisting of 2-3 days or longer as required).
  • Promote safety and comply with safety/ergonomic standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
  • Outgoing personality to interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, and investigators.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Final candidates subject to Motor Vehicle Record background check.
  • Able to adapt to ever changing technology.
  • Will be required to maintain an active adjusters license in states where required.
  • Ability to travel for CAT/mini CAT duty (may require travel away from residence for specified periods).
