Key responsibilities & impact

Implement and manage performance review cycles.
Establish clear performance expectations and support PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) processes.
Manage FMLA and/or parental leave requests and HR-related updates.
Support managers with professional development and management guidance.
Maintain and update the employee handbook as needed.
Function as the people policy expert, addressing questions for the team.
Ensure HR practices align with company policies and regulations.
Oversee benefit elections and support employees through enrollment processes.
Coordinate with insurance brokers/providers and manage insurance-related updates.
Assist with open enrollment & COBRA and ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
Identify and implement culture-building initiatives in a remote work environment.
Conduct exit interviews and provide insights to leadership.
Work closely with the Junior Chief of Staff to ensure alignment across HR initiatives.
Report directly to the Chief of Staff on HR strategy and operational matters.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven experience in HR/People Operations in a fast-growing startup, with expertise in supporting both a 1099 and W2 workforce.
Strong knowledge of performance management, employee relations, and HR compliance.
Comfortable working remotely and independently while collaborating closely with leadership.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience fostering culture in remote or hybrid teams is a plus.
