About the role
- - Own **end-to-end product design**: discovery → wireframes → high-fidelity UI → handoff.
- - Design **intuitive experiences** for **merchant onboarding & KYC flows**, **POS activation & transaction journeys**, **merchant app & web dashboards**, **banking features** (accounts, transfers, settlements), **merchant lending flows** (eligibility, disbursement, repayment).
- - Translate complex **fintech, risk, and compliance requirements** into simple, usable interfaces.
- - Partner closely with **Product Managers, Engineers, Risk, and Business teams** to ship high-impact features.
- - Conduct **user research**, usability testing, and iterate based on real merchant feedback.
- - Maintain and evolve FairMoney’s **design system** for consistency across platforms.
- - Balance **speed vs quality** in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment.
Requirements
- - 3–6+ years of experience as a **Product / UX / UI Designer**, preferably in fintech, banking, or complex B2B products.
- - Strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving ability, complex flow simplification and end-to-end ownership (not just visuals)
- - Experience designing **mobile-first products** (Android focus is a plus).
- - Strong understanding of:
- - UX principles, interaction design, and information architecture.
- - Design systems & component-based design.
- - Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving requirements.
- - Ability to explain design decisions clearly to non-design stakeholders.
- - Tools: **Figma** (mandatory), plus familiarity with prototyping & handoff workflows.
- **Mandatory Requirements**
- - Experience with **POS, payments, lending, or banking products**.
- - Exposure to **African markets** or emerging markets.
- - Experience working closely with **engineering constraints** and backend-heavy systems.
- - Basic understanding of **risk, fraud, or compliance flows** in fintech.
