About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build automation, tooling, and internal platforms for a global, multi-datacenter infrastructure spanning Points of Presence worldwide
- Design and develop internal tools, CLIs, and APIs primarily in Go and Python
- Integrate CMDB/IPAM, secrets management, hypervisor APIs, monitoring platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
- Develop and maintain API clients and libraries for infrastructure services
- Write well-tested, documented, maintainable code with versioning, release processes, and code reviews
- Architect and maintain Ansible roles and playbooks across 30+ datacenters, 80+ group variable files, and 40+ roles
- Improve Ansible idempotency, error handling, and test coverage
- Develop custom Ansible modules, plugins, and lookup plugins
- Automate bare-metal server lifecycle from iLO bootstrap through OS installation, hypervisor configuration, VM provisioning, and service deployment
- Design and maintain GitLab CI pipelines with linting, validation, canary testing, regional rollout, rollback, drift detection, and change validation
- Implement automated testing for Ansible roles and infrastructure changes
- Automate self-hosted Kubernetes provisioning, upgrades, scaling, disaster recovery, workload deployment, Helm, and GitOps workflows
- Build container image pipelines, registry management, and image promotion workflows
- Develop Kubernetes operators/controllers in Go
- Automate AWS and Azure resources across hybrid bare-metal, virtualized, and cloud environments
- Instrument tools with logging, metrics, and tracing
- Build automated remediation workflows, reporting, dashboards, and toil-reduction initiatives
- Automate PCI-DSS compliance, CIS hardening, audit evidence collection, drift detection, secret rotation, and security scanning integration
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in an SRE, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering role with a strong emphasis on writing code and building automation
- Proficiency in Python, including CLI tools, APIs (Flask/FastAPI or equivalent), and automation frameworks
- Expert-level Ansible skills, including custom role development, module/plugin authorship, complex Jinja2 templating, inventory management at scale, and CI/CD integration
- Solid Linux systems knowledge (RHEL/CentOS)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI, for infrastructure automation
- Production experience with self-hosted Kubernetes, including cluster operations, controller/operator development, and workload automation
- Practical AWS and Azure experience with an IaC mindset
- Experience with API-driven infrastructure management, including RESTful APIs, Redfish/iLO, and hypervisor APIs
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault or equivalent secrets management platforms, including programmatic integration
- Understanding of PCI-DSS requirements for automated infrastructure management
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: version control, code review, testing, documentation, and release management
- Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
- Preferred: Proxmox VE API automation or similar hypervisor APIs; bare-metal server management automation; working proficiency in Go; custom Ansible modules/plugins; NetBox API integration; Kubernetes operator development; network automation; colocation/carrier-neutral data center experience; open-source contributions
- Nice to have: OSTree/image-based OS lifecycle automation; Pulp or package repository management; developer portals; DDoS mitigation automation or network-function virtualization
