About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prospect, grow, maintain and manage a portfolio of medium-sized clients and prospects.
  • Research and assess potential EDC clients.
  • Build trust-based relationships with clients.
  • Determine ways to positively impact client companies and markets.
  • Evaluate cross-selling opportunities for current clients.
  • Coordinate EDC resources to offer product solutions.
  • Provide predictable customer service.
  • Promote EDC’s total value offering through communication with financial intermediaries and other influential parties.
  • Leverage and grow EDC’s global network to identify potential clients.
  • Identify and qualify potential customers and promote the full value proposition available to exporters.
  • Assess export financing, risk management and other needs and match solutions to those needs.
  • Manage assigned account portfolios and develop territory strategies and account plans.
  • Manage portfolio pipeline progression and facilitate transactions where appropriate.
  • Execute projects, initiatives and tasks related to the market coverage mandate.
  • Develop market coverage strategies and plans integrated with sector and country strategies.
  • Identify market trends and intelligence for regional or sector strategies.
  • Serve as the prospect/client knowledge base and problem solver.
  • Handle client negotiation strategies and manage interactions professionally.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of business development experience and commercial lending experience in international business and/or financial services.
  • Knowledge of best practices in strategic sales and/or account management.
  • An existing established network in the province of British Columbia.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work legally in Canada at the time of application is preferred (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents).
  • Must meet requisite government security screening requirements.
