About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute to the execution of EDC’s 2030 Corporate Plan
  • Prospect, develop, maintain and manage a portfolio of current and prospective clients in the mid-market segment
  • Research and assess potential EDC clients
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and determine how to positively impact their businesses and markets
  • Assess cross-sell opportunities for existing clients
  • Coordinate EDC resources to deliver predictable product solutions and service delivery
  • Promote EDC’s capabilities in the region to financial intermediaries and other influential stakeholders
  • Leverage and expand EDC’s network to source prospective clients
  • Identify and qualify prospects and promote EDC’s full value proposition to exporters
  • Assess export financing, risk management or other needs and identify appropriate solutions
  • Manage an account portfolio and design account strategies and plans by territory
  • Manage the progress of assigned portfolios and help facilitate transactions
  • Track the pipeline of potential transactions and participate in their facilitation
  • Execute projects, initiatives and tasks related to market coverage mandate
  • Develop market strategies and plans covering assigned territories, including relevant sector and national strategies
  • Capture market trends and intelligence observed within the territory to inform regional or sector strategies
  • Act as a point of contact and problem-solver for current and prospective clients
  • Employ negotiation strategies and manage interactions in a positive, professional manner

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development and commercial lending experience in international trade or financial services
  • Knowledge of best practices in strategic selling or account management
  • Established network within the province of British Columbia
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Preference given to candidates who are legally eligible to work in Canada at the time of application
  • Candidates must meet government security requirements
  • Experience in business development within commercial banking
  • Experience managing sales in related sectors
  • Knowledge of bank lending and credit practices
  • Knowledge of international business practices and international trade
  • MBA, Accredited Professional in International Trade (PACI) or designation as a credit and banking operations analyst
  • Working knowledge of both official languages, where required for the preferred work region
