About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Argue contested hearings, temporary orders hearings, and family law trials
- Lead mediations and adversarial settlement negotiations
- Conduct depositions and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony
- Develop litigation strategies and take over matters when negotiations fail
- Review and revise motions, pleadings, and responses prepared by the drafting/paralegal team
- Guide clients through court appearances with a trauma-informed and client-centered approach
- Serve as the lead courtroom advocate while leveraging internal support teams for drafting, intake, and trial preparation
- Collaborate with dedicated paralegals responsible for exhibit binders, trial notebooks, and hearing preparation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Texas Bar license or documented reciprocity process underway
- Minimum 3+ years of family law litigation experience; OR 5+ years of civil litigation experience with a demonstrated interest in transitioning into family law
- Strong courtroom experience handling contested hearings, motions, mediations, and/or trials
- Experience taking depositions and preparing witnesses
- Ability to manage emotionally sensitive matters with professionalism and emotional intelligence
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and litigation strategy skills
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in high-conflict situations.
