About the role
- Bring hands-on expertise in AWS, migrating complex, data-intensive applications from on-premises data centers to AWS
- Work with Product Management to align engineering projects with product vision, ensure seamless delivery of features, and translate requirements into scalable, high-quality technical solutions
- Develop and execute the software engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the broader vision
- Manage a large, diverse engineering organization, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and learning
- Lead large-scale migration of database-heavy applications from on-premises infrastructure to AWS, ensuring minimal disruption, maximum scalability, and optimized performance
- Promote best practices in architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and operations
- Advocate for using AWS services to accelerate time-to-market and increase business readiness
- Ensure products meet rigorous quality standards and comply with healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with Product, Security, Compliance, Data Science, and other teams
- Communicate with executive leadership, board, and external partners
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in cloud computing and healthcare technology
- Foster an environment that encourages experimentation and the use of modern engineering solutions.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive professional experience in software engineering
- 7+ years in a senior leadership capacity managing large, diverse engineering teams
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience architecting, migrating, and managing large-scale, database-intensive applications on AWS
- Deep familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, Aurora, Lambda, S3, Fargate, EKS, CloudFormation, and IAM
- Substantial experience migrating applications and databases from traditional data centers to AWS, including planning, execution, and optimization phases
- Experience migrating legacy Microsoft solutions to modern AWS solutions
- Experience with healthcare data, compliance requirements, and security best practices
- Background in building, mentoring, and retaining engineering teams
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with legacy Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, .NET, MSMQ
- Advanced AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer, Database – Specialty)
- AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification is required
- Background in Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices
- Experience with data privacy and security frameworks such as HITRUST, SOC2, and NIST
- Experience developing and implementing AI models, optimizing algorithms, and deploying AI solutions to solve real-world problems.
