About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Prepare and review load calculations
Develop and review CAD drawings, specifications, equipment room sizes, and project documentation
Select and schedule mechanical equipment and meet vendors regarding application requirements
Coordinate with MEP/FP, architectural, structural, and other disciplines
Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and solve installation problems
Apply risk management procedures and manage design processes, work plans, deliverables, budgets, and project milestones across multiple projects
Develop scope-of-work narratives, studies, reports, sequences of operations, and existing-condition details
Apply concepts for chilled water, hot water, condenser water, steam, air-side, hydronic, variable-flow, and constant-flow systems
Perform equipment selection and analysis for chillers, boilers, air terminals, fans, cooling towers, air valves, HEPA filters, DX equipment, and water-source heat pumps
Direct and mentor Designer-level staff
Perform responsible-charge design and QA/QC reviews
Review code-related items and ensure compliance
Collaborate with project controllers, project managers, clients, and vendors to meet milestones

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of project management/mechanical design experience
PE License required
Must be a degreed engineer
Must hold a professional engineering license
Strong leadership skills
Good communication capabilities
Building design experience required
Preferred: data center, mission critical, or telecommunications industry experience
CAD proficiency and experience working with CAD drawings
Thorough knowledge of applicable codes
Understanding of project planning, design phases, work plans, budgets, and deliverables
Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment selection, psychrometrics, humid-climate design risks, and total-energy concepts
