About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design power electrical systems for hydroelectric plants and other energy infrastructures
  • Perform layout and installation engineering for electrical equipment, including medium- and high-voltage switchgear, electrical distribution centers, control panels, auxiliary transformers, and power and protection systems
  • Produce and review drawings, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, equipment lists and other engineering deliverables
  • Perform or validate sizing calculations for equipment and electrical cables
  • Participate in the technical selection of equipment and in the review of vendor documents
  • Coordinate work with civil, structural, mechanical, control and protection, architectural and building teams
  • Participate in field surveys, site visits, acceptance tests and commissioning phases as required
  • Provide mentorship to engineers-in-training (EITs), designers and technicians
  • Engage in technical discussions with clients and contribute to the overall success of projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed professional engineer, member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • More than 5 years of relevant experience in electrical power systems
  • Experience in hydroelectricity, electrical substations or complex energy infrastructure
  • Good knowledge of standards, codes and design practices applicable in Quebec
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD and other specialized industry tools
  • Excellent command of French, both written and spoken
  • Functional knowledge of English to collaborate with teams, partners and clients across Canada
  • Technical leadership, rigor, sense of responsibility and a collaborative spirit
  • Commitment to quality, health and safety, and professional excellence
