About the role
- Design and develop mechanical systems and industrial process solutions for projects in food, pharmaceutical and industrial environments, from conceptual phase through to commissioning.
- Perform detailed technical design, ensure interdisciplinary coordination and carry out verification of systems and processes in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Analyze, design and optimize industrial process layouts, including the integration of equipment, utilities, instrumentation and controls.
- Perform mass and energy balances, as well as technical and regulatory analyses (codes, standards and industry best practices).
- Prepare and validate Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Define technology requirements, select equipment and instruments, and prepare associated technical specifications.
- Participate in surveys of existing installations, coordinate the preparation of drawings and ensure integration of operational and site constraints.
- Oversee the production of drawings, write technical, procurement and installation specifications, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
- Write technical reports and expert assessments, including analyses, recommendations and proposed solutions for clients.
- Prepare cost estimates, contribute to project planning and provide technical follow-up with stakeholders.
- Review and approve shop drawings from suppliers and contractors.
- Maintain close collaboration and effective coordination among clients, internal teams, suppliers and contractors.
- Provide on-site technical support during construction, delivery, qualification and commissioning phases.
- Actively participate in equipment start-up, troubleshooting and validation of functionality and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or another relevant discipline related to industrial, food or pharmaceutical processes.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering consulting, ideally in the food, pharmaceutical or sanitary process sectors.
- Excellent knowledge of industry standards and practices (GMP, ISPE, ASME-BPE, PIC/S, or equivalents).
- Strong process design skills, with a high capacity for analysis, synthesis and understanding of complex concepts.
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for occasional client visits.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills, enabling effective mobilization of multidisciplinary teams and internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong action- and results-orientation and problem-solving ability in dynamic, demanding environments while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
