About the role

  • Design and develop mechanical equipment and industrial systems for mining operations (crushing, grinding, material handling, pumping, ventilation, etc.).
  • Perform preliminary and detailed design studies including mechanical calculations, sizing, and component selection.
  • Produce and review drawings, technical specifications and 2D/3D models in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Assess operational constraints in mining environments (high loads, abrasion, corrosion, harsh environments).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, instrumentation, civil) to ensure optimal integration of mechanical solutions.
  • Perform failure, reliability and maintainability analyses on mechanical equipment.
  • Select materials and mechanical components based on operating conditions, cost and equipment lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards and regulations (CSA, ISO, mining standards, health & safety).
  • Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning phases.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, datasheets and vendor documents.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of designs to optimize equipment performance, safety and durability.
  • Conduct mining site visits to collect data, monitor work and provide technical support.
  • Support cost estimating, work planning and adherence to project schedules.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculation notes and design documentation.
  • Provide basic technical mentoring to junior engineers and drafters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering and design experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with design registration/documentation for power piping systems.
  • Experience with design modifications and alterations to pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 with the regulatory authority.
  • Experience designing with engineering software such as PipeFlo, AutoPIPE, CAESAR II, Compress, Tank, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse and SolidWorks.
  • Experience preparing procurement datasheets, technical specifications and engineering/construction work packages.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong critical thinking.
  • Availability and willingness to travel for short periods to project offices or international sites (asset).
  • Bilingual in French and English with strong oral and written proficiency in both languages. You will be required to regularly interact with internal and external partners across Canada and the United States in English, both spoken and written.
