AI Engineer

• As Principal AI Engineer, you will own the inference and intelligence layer of the Exactera platform.
• Build the substrate that agentic workflows run on.
• Set technical direction, make build-versus-buy decisions, and provide direction to other senior engineers.
• Evaluate the stack against real workloads and propose changes when warranted.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, product management, and domain experts in tax advisory.
• Design and operate the typed graph of tax-domain entities and relationships.

Principal AI Engineer

• Manage federal and state R&D tax credit claims, working closely with the Practice Leader and cross-functional teams.
• Lead and participate in client interviews to identify qualifying activities and expenses.
• Own project execution: status updates, timelines, technical issue-spotting, and deliverable management.
• Collect, format, and analyze large datasets to build complex calculation models and support credit positions.
• Draft and/or review technical memoranda (opinion letters, IRS responses, ruling requests) and support audit readiness.
• Mentor, train, and supervise junior team members; ensure consistent quality and best practices.
• Lead/support 179D deduction studies and 45L credit engagements (eligibility, substantiation, and client-ready deliverables).
• Support IC-DISC feasibility, implementation, and annual calculation/compliance deliverables.
• Assist clients with Section 174 capitalization/amortization modeling and documentation support.
• Manage/coordinate cost segregation and fixed asset/depreciation reviews (placed-in-service, class lives, methods, bonus depreciation considerations, and reconciliation support).

Incentives Tax Manager

• Execute federal and state R&D tax credit claims under Manager supervision; own assigned workstreams end-to-end.
• Conduct client interviews to identify qualifying activities and expenses; document the four-part test.
• Collect, format, and analyze large datasets; build §41 calculation models (Regular Credit, ASC, §280C).
• Draft technical writeups, IRS IDR response components, and supporting memoranda for Manager review.
• Maintain workpaper hygiene, audit trail, and platform documentation completeness.
• Mentor Associates / Interns on platform usage and R&D documentation standards.
• Support 179D deduction studies and 45L credit engagements (eligibility, substantiation, deliverables).
• Support IC-DISC annual calculation and compliance workstreams.
• Assist with §174 capitalization/amortization modeling and documentation.
• Support cost segregation and fixed asset / depreciation reviews.
