Get hands-on experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server environments.
Refactor and improve existing data visualizations (responsive design, SQL, calculations, filtering, parameters).
Demonstrate best practices for developing with live vs. extract data sources, including row level security.
Configure Tableau Server users, groups, permissions, and subscriptions.
Monitor production extracts and resolve performance issues.
Independently design and develop dashboards and data sources, using both established and innovative methodologies.
Collaborate with the front-end team to enhance embedding functionality using the Tableau JavaScript API (focus on asynchronous filter/parameter updates).
Conduct performance tuning for Tableau dashboards; use knowledge of Tableau calculations to detect bottlenecks and advise on moves to upstream data prep.
Work with engineering and business teams to define requirements.
Use Tableau Prep or similar ETL tools to optimize datasets.
Partner with business stakeholders to design production-ready Tableau content that drive decision-making.
Become Evolv’s Tableau SME (Subject Matter Expert) at the developer level, leveraging Tableau APIs (JavaScript, REST) for embedded, automated, and interactive reporting solutions.
Define and enforce content management and governance standards across the analytics environment.
Contribute to Evolv’s broader cloud analytics strategy, including evaluating additional BI tools.
Requirements
5+ years of hands-on Tableau development and BI engineering experience, with a track record of delivering enterprise-scale projects.
Intermediate or advanced Salesforce/Tableau certification (such as Data Analyst, Consultant, Associate, Professional, or equivalent).
Working knowledge (or better) of the Tableau JavaScript API, with experience designing content for embedding with Tableau and working with front-end team to integrate content.
Advanced SQL skills for designing and optimizing data sources.
Deep expertise in relational databases, row-level security, and Tableau Server administration.
Experience working with AWS data stack and cloud-based application development.
Bonus skills: Knowledge of data science modeling, experience with PostgreSQL, and proficiency in Python.
