About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform engineering assignments requiring professional mastery and extensive experience in electric distribution and transmission substations
- Act as project engineer for substation project assignments
- Lead engineering design efforts, develop engineering solutions, and ensure quality of deliverables
- Manage engineering schedules and coordinate assigned engineering disciplines with procurement and construction personnel
- Define concepts, scopes, and detailed engineering aspects of substation and switching station projects
- Support project cost estimates, schedules, and capital project budget authorization documents
- Conduct engineering studies related to substation equipment and materials
- Prepare, review, and issue engineering drawings with the Engineering Design and Drafting group
- Organize engineering projects and support design through energization
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers
- Lead electrical discipline coordination and scheduling
- Prioritize several concurrent projects under budget and time constraints
- Collaborate with engineering disciplines and System Planning
- Ensure transmission and distribution system additions, modifications, and replacements meet internal and industry standards
- Develop standards, procedures, and equipment specifications
- Participate in emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry
- Applicable experience in 13kV through 362kV substation design
- Substation design experience in accordance with associated IEEE/ANSI standards required
- Ability to organize engineering projects, work to a schedule, and follow through through energization
- Ability to prioritize several concurrent projects under budget and time constraints
- Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as required
- Must be available to travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire as necessary
- Must be able to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and up to five days if needed
