About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Individual will plan, coordinate, and perform engineering assignments (design and implementation) in support of distribution automation telecommunication systems for Eversource
Individual is responsible for ensuring that the company’s wireless data communications networks are optimally configured to support SCADA data applications within the operating areas at Eversource
Collaborate with other senior staff members to ensure that the right mix of data communications protocols, technologies, products and services are selected to meet the requirements of an assigned project
Collaborate with Field Communications to troubleshoot and build the distribution automation communications network at Eversource
Contribute to the configuration and specification of SCADA data wireless telecom equipment/hardware and its interface to field RTU devices
Troubleshoot events on the distribution system where a field device communication is identified to have mis-operated or impacted remote operations.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related discipline
At least five (5) years of experience in the design, implementation and support of wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems
Experience with the application of wireless SCADA data telecommunications infrastructure within a utility application using DNP 3.0 protocol is preferred
Understanding of electric utility systems is strongly preferred
General understanding of the design, specification, and installation of wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems over various media, such as radio, cellular and fiber
Basic understanding of SCADA engineering concepts, in particular DNP 3.0 protocol.
Strong ability to coordinate with a team to design and build out a project.
