About the role
- Support team lead with electricity market simulation modeling, data analysis, and industry research
- Collaborate with engineers and analysts to inform how transmission enables clean energy growth and state decarbonization goals
- Focus on tracking, reporting, and estimating power sector carbon emissions using simulation modeling and historical data
- Interface with internal and external experts to gather data and domain knowledge
- Potential future support for implementation of carbon flow tracking software
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of electricity demand, resources, consumer cost impacts, emissions trends, and the transmission grid
- Research, analyze, and document power sector modeling input assumptions and simulation results
- Support carbon flow modeling software development, testing, and implementation
- Support process improvement initiatives related to economic analysis and provide ad hoc data analysis for other groups
- Track federal and state clean energy policies and transmission development opportunities
- Develop reports, prepare presentations, and write procedures as needed
Requirements
- Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment; Eversource will not sponsor work visas
- Working knowledge of ISO New England wholesale electricity markets or transmission planning procedures
- Strong analytical skills and team building skills
- Understanding of economic theory and wholesale electricity markets
- Understanding of state and federal utility industry regulation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Suite including advanced Excel functions (lookup functions, pivot tables, Power Query)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or the equivalent in combined education and experience required
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years related industry experience
- Preferred: experience with production cost modeling tools (PLEXOS, Gridview, PROMOD) or power system analysis software (PSS/E, TARA, Powerworld, ASPEN Oneliner)
- Preferred: experience with Python for web scraping, data analysis, transforming data, and interfacing with APIs
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
