About the role
- Manage a pending of assumed reinsurance claims including multiple lines of business and geographies.
- Confirm coverage under the relevant policy and reinsurance contract.
- Investigate, analyze and evaluate liability and damages.
- Prepare case summary reports related to matters of significant reserve and trial activity.
- Ensure prompt payment of claims and the timely setting of appropriate case reserves.
- Participate in claim reviews of ceding company files, processes and procedures.
- Work with underwriters in supporting reinsurance contract wording, reporting claim trends, data analysis, and risk assessments.
- Extensive communication with ceding companies, brokers, actuaries, and underwriters.
- Attend client meetings and industry functions to support retention and development of client relationships and business.
Requirements
- Three to five years of commercial lines claim adjusting experience and/or reinsurance claim experience.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims process and legal and regulatory environment.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Ability to identify and use relevant data and metrics to best manage claims.
- Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency.
- Ability and willingness to present to senior management and to others in other group settings.
- Some knowledge of reinsurance preferred but not required, training provided.
- Interest in data and analytics a plus.
- B.A. or B.S. preferred but not required.
