About the role
- Lead a team of approximately 9 Underwriting Assistants supporting Alternative Solutions, Credit & Political Risk, Private Equity, and Surety.
- Leverage data to drive production of Ratings, Policy Issuance, and Mid-term Endorsements.
- Reprioritize and reassign work to ensure established SLAs are consistently achieved.
- Utilize continuous improvement methodology to identify root causes, problem-solve, and drive process improvements.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; communicate performance metrics and execution.
- Oversee responses to Quality Audits and proactively monitor audit readiness.
- Accountable for Change Management and contributing to technology/system enhancements impacting workflow.
- Ensure staff meet core competencies through training, hiring, coaching, development, and performance management.
Requirements
- You hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- You have at least 2 years of prior supervisory and/or operational experience.
- You are proficient in MS Office, with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and formulas for data cleansing and analysis.
- Knowledge of the Financial and/or Specialty Lines commercial insurance policy life cycle, terminology, and processing procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, along with solid mathematical aptitude.
- Excellent coaching and communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills; strong negotiation, decision-making, accountability, and leadership.
- Customer-focused with results orientation and ability to manage expectations, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Intellectual curiosity, high sense of urgency, action orientation, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to participate in planning and organizational guidance, including time management, project management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
