About the role

  • 3-year apprenticeship to become an operating theatre/surgical technologist
  • Work takes place in the hospital’s operating department as well as in the outpatient surgery center and in cooperating partner hospitals
  • Independently organize and coordinate workflows in the functional departments: outpatient clinic, endoscopy, and central sterile services
  • Prepare and care for patients in the operating area
  • Prepare instruments, materials, and equipment
  • Theoretical training in cooperation with the Hanse Institute Oldenburg

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • 14-day internship in operating-room nursing prior to start
  • Educational background: at least 10 years of schooling with a Secondary School Certificate I (Sekundarabschluss I), or a completed training as a nursing assistant, or a successfully completed state-regulated nursing assistance or geriatric care training of at least one year, or a lower secondary school leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) or equivalent school qualification together with a completed vocational training in healthcare (e.g., medical assistant)
