Software Engineer

Junior Microwave Radiometer Engineer

• Report to the Head of the Navigation Systems Definition Section
• Contribute, lead and/or provide expert technical support to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the field of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) and geolocation for Earth and space applications
• Support the definition, design and development of PNT system evolutions and covering end-to-end system, architecture, signal, performance, receiver, algorithms and payload system architecture aspects
• Lead feasibility studies, project reviews and evaluate procurement proposals
• Define technology development requirements and work plans for the Agency’s technology programmes
• Contribute to the dissemination of results of activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency

Navigation Systems Evolution Engineer

• Developing and driving activities to explore diverse scientific and technical architectural elements
• Evolve and maintain a European Earth Observation Ecosystem Reference Architecture (blueprint) for the 2040–2060 timeframe
• Preparing new architectures addressing current and future paradigm shifts in Earth observation
• Assessment of scientific, operational, commercial and constellation approaches to European EO challenges in 2040-2060+
• Preparing and conducting simulations and optimisations to support the formulation of architectural options
• Analysing technical and economic challenges and trends under new EO sector initiatives to assess the relevant feasibility.
