About the role
- Lead legal support on global commercial deals: Draft, review, negotiate, and provide end-to-end support on customer contracts, working closely with Sales and other commercial stakeholders.
- Attend and lead client and supplier negotiations: Join client calls as needed and lead contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers.
- Support procurement: Advise on contract risk assessments and work with Procurement to negotiate supplier contracts, supplier contract negotiations and procurement-related risk assessments.
- Maintain and improve our global contract templates for our Passport (product) and Consulting offerings, and integration of these into the commercial ecosystem, e.g. Salesforce and DocuSign.
- Risk management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, financial, and operational risks in contracts. Provide guidance to the business on key contract terms and, risks, and obligations.
- Provide pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice to commercial teams.
- Collaborate with the General Counsel for support on complex drafting, negotiation and forming judgement of contractual risks.
- Develop and deliver training for global sales teams; contribute to legal resources, toolkits, and playbooks.
- Supervise and develop our Legal Contracts Analyst based in Chicago.
- Proactively identify and drive opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency in contract management, legal matter intake and legal operations, leveraging existing tools and systems and consistently looking to find a better way.
- Continue supporting customer and supplier negotiations and contracts to lead and support customer and supplier contract work, which will remain a central and ongoing responsibility of the role.
- Broaden scope to include (depending on business needs and capacity): Employment, corporate, regulatory compliance and general legal advisory
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or legal executive (UK or equivalent jurisdiction)
- 2-3+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) with strong experience in commercial contracts (in-house or private practice)
- Can manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are met
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, drafting and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial acumen; ability to take a pragmatic approach to legal risk and advise the business accordingly
- Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across all levels of the business
- Eager to broaden legal skillset and grow within a dynamic in-house environment
- Strong team player and can-do approach; no job is too big or too small
- Experience in IP, corporate or regulatory law is advantageous but not essential
