Director – Product Growth
EthosDirector of Product Growth at Ethos Life responsible for scaling new business lines in a high-growth consumer environment. Collaboration with product, marketing, sales, and engineering to achieve outcomes.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own new business lines from zero to scale. Take a new bet from concept through launch to durable revenue, with full accountability for the outcome. E.g. introducing an adjacent product as cross-sell, expansion into a new audience segment, establishing a new go-to-market motion.
- Set the strategy and sequence the bets. Decide what to build, in what order, and how to win. Then translate that into a concrete plan the whole team can execute against.
- Build the go-to-market from the ground up. Define positioning and pricing, shape the sales motion and where it plays, and partner with marketing to stand up the channels needed to acquire and convert customers profitably.
- Own the economics. Build the business case, model unit economics (CAC, LTV, payback, contribution margin), set the targets, and steer spend and effort toward what's working.
- Identify and establish the GTM and distribution partnerships needed to launch and scale new business lines.
- Act as the connective tissue across product, product marketing, sales, engineering, operations, and partnerships - removing blockers, driving alignment, and keeping every function pulling toward the same outcome.
- Get hands-on wherever it moves the business. Run the analysis, write the narrative, sit in on the sales calls, dig into the funnel - whatever the bet needs to get to scale.
- Develop a nuanced understanding of how products, channels, and teams interplay, and use it to place the right bets and steer teams toward the right outcomes.
- Champion AI-native workflows across every function you touch, using AI to build faster and to unlock things that weren't previously possible.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years total experience, ideally 3+ years in a top-tier management consulting firm or investment banking, followed by 3+ years in biz-ops, a GM/business-building role, or a founding role at a high-growth, venture-backed company.
- A builder at heart. You get energy from standing things up from scratch and taking ownership of a new business line as if it were your own company.
- True operator mindset. You own outcomes and get your hands dirty to make things happen. You overcome blockers with rigor and relentlessness, not just ideas.
- Track record of delivering results directly. You have multiple stories where you owned and drove initiatives end-to-end and know what it takes to deliver in fast-moving environments, not just make recommendations.
- You are an AI builder, not just an AI user. You’ve built agentic workflows and internal tools drive a step change improvement in a team’s collective judgement and productivity.
- Ability to go deep and zoom out. You can dive into the nuances of a new product and a channel and zoom back to think strategically about implications and next moves.
- Structured thinking. You can take complex, ambiguous problems fast, get to the bottom of what matters, and communicate with clarity.
- Exceptional communicator who can zoom between C-level strategy and operational details, crafting crisp narratives in both written materials and live executive forums.
- Sharp decision-making with a bias for action and speed. You thrive in high-velocity environments and don't wait for perfect information to move forward.
