About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Triage patients presenting to the Emergency Room according to triage levels
  • Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor
  • Provide patient histories, vitals, and concerns to doctors for timely emergency-patient management
  • Work with technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans, and hospitalize patients
  • Provide advanced nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients
  • Administer medications, treatments, and fluid therapy, and perform ongoing patient assessments
  • Provide client updates, answer questions, and explain pets’ conditions, treatment plans, and prognoses
  • Maintain accurate medical records covering observations, treatments, diagnostics, medications, and changes in patient status
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, specialists, and support staff on patient care plans
  • Maintain treatment areas and prepare and manage medical equipment
  • Ensure hospitalized patients receive attentive, compassionate care throughout their stay

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of two years of veterinary experience for experienced Veterinary Technicians/Assistants
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred
  • Emergency or critical care experience preferred
  • Strong technical skills in venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring
  • Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, radiology safety, and fluid therapy
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
