Senior Corporate Counsel
esVolta, LPSenior Corporate Counsel supporting full lifecycle of utility-scale BESS project development across CAISO, WECC, SPP and MISO markets. Partnering closely with development, commercial operations, project and finance teams.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead legal support for the full BESS project lifecycle
- Partner with internal stakeholders to structure, draft, and negotiate key project agreements
- Support responses to utility and corporate RFPs
- Advise on procurement, trade, and supply chain matters
- Support legal due diligence and transaction management
- Work effectively with and manage outside counsel
- Monitor market, regulatory, and industry developments
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, sophisticated in-house legal department, or government agency
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active license in good standing (preferably in CA, NY, or TX)
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating offtake, power purchase, capacity, tolling, and other project revenue agreements
- Strong working knowledge of permitting, environmental review, land use, siting, interconnection, real estate, procurement, trade, supply chain, and ISO/RTO market issues relevant to utility-scale BESS projects.
- Proficiency with legal technology and contract management tools
- Strategic and commercially minded with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Collaborative, adaptable, and responsive with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
