About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure and enforce the highest safety standards on site.
Implement and oversee safety protocols, hold daily safety briefings, and ensure full compliance with all local, federal and internal health & safety regulations.
Oversee the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program.
Inspect work at key stages to ensure conformity with approved technical drawings, specifications and building codes.
Manage obtaining all required site permits, work scheduling and successful regulatory inspections throughout the construction cycle.
Provide full-time, on-site supervision and management of all trades, subcontractors and construction activities.
Drive daily and weekly project schedules, proactively identifying and resolving critical-path issues, resource conflicts and delays to ensure on-time project completion.
Monitor and control project costs at the site level, validate contractor progress invoices, manage change orders and ensure work is delivered within the allocated budget.
Act as the point of contact for general contractors and major subcontractors, managing performance, organizing regular progress meetings and maintaining strong working relationships.
Ensure close coordination with mechanical and electrical design engineers to clarify design intent, manage the Request for Information (RFI) process and implement necessary field changes.
Prepare and submit accurate daily and weekly progress reports, including photographs and documentation detailing construction activities, safety incidents, quality issues and anticipated impacts to the project schedule.
Coordinate and support the commissioning manager and operations team during integrated system testing (IST) and final commissioning phases.
Manage punch list completion, compile all required close-out documentation (as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals) and ensure a smooth, timely handover of the completed facility to the operations team.

Requirements

What you’ll need

More than 10 years of experience managing large-scale critical projects or hyperscale data center construction
More than 10 years of site management experience
More than 10 years of project management experience
A bachelor’s degree in construction management, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field is an asset
A project management (construction) certification is desirable
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Strong organizational, coordination and prioritization skills
Rigorous, results-oriented approach with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams
Ability to work independently and take local initiative
Strategic mindset and strong practical/technical judgment
Skilled in interpreting complex drawings and 3D models to identify clashes early and manage the RFI process with design engineers
Rigorous approach to punch list management and close-out documentation to ensure a smooth transition to operations
Knowledge of data center construction and infrastructure projects
Deep knowledge of the construction industry
