About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and develop network infrastructure across more than 100 police buildings in Kent and Essex
  • Provide and maintain data centre network services, network security, wireless technology, voice services and ACD systems
  • Recognise network threats and vulnerabilities and mitigate security threats
  • Work in a third-line support role
  • Support critical services including 999 control rooms and a network platform used by over 14,500 staff
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota, approximately one week in four
  • Attend police sites and the relevant Team Zone or Chelmsford HQ as required
  • Contribute to a resilient, scalable, highly available and secure network technology platform

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven and demonstrable network experience
  • Ability to support and develop network infrastructure
  • Network security experience
  • Ability to recognise network threats and vulnerabilities and mitigate security threats
  • Experience working in a third-line role
  • Firewall and/or voice experience
  • Cisco qualification(s) desirable
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies desirable
  • ITIL desirable
  • Willingness to join a paid 24/7 on-call rota, one week in four
  • Successful completion of required vetting and security clearance
  • Non-UK applicants must be UK residents who have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years and have indefinite leave to remain without restrictions
  • UK applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years, except those serving abroad in the British Armed Forces
