About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) procedures under the direction of a neurologist or physiatrist
Prepare patients and equipment for EEG testing
Apply electrodes using the International 10-20 system
Monitor EEG recordings and annotate clinical events in real time
Assist with long-term monitoring (LTM), ambulatory EEGs, and video EEGs as needed
Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout procedures
Set up and calibrate EMG and nerve conduction study (NCS) equipment
Assist physicians with EMG/NCS procedures, including electrode placement and patient preparation
Document waveforms, latency, and amplitude readings accurately
Sterilize and maintain EMG equipment and supplies
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
Educate patients about procedures and answer questions
Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean work environment
Provide cross-coverage for other neurodiagnostic modalities as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program or equivalent training
BLS/CPR certification required
Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) preferred or eligible
CNCT or R.NCS.T. certification preferred for EMG/NCS
1–3 years of experience in EEG and/or EMG strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of neurophysiology and electrophysiological testing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude
Comfortable working with diverse patient populations
Ability to stand for extended periods
Manual dexterity for electrode application and equipment handling
Capable of lifting/moving equipment up to 25 lbs
