About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) procedures under the direction of a neurologist or physiatrist
- Prepare patients and equipment for EEG testing
- Apply electrodes using the International 10-20 system
- Monitor EEG recordings and annotate clinical events in real time
- Assist with long-term monitoring (LTM), ambulatory EEGs, and video EEGs as needed
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout procedures
- Set up and calibrate EMG and nerve conduction study (NCS) equipment
- Assist physicians with EMG/NCS procedures, including electrode placement and patient preparation
- Document waveforms, latency, and amplitude readings accurately
- Sterilize and maintain EMG equipment and supplies
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Educate patients about procedures and answer questions
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean work environment
- Provide cross-coverage for other neurodiagnostic modalities as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program or equivalent training
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) preferred or eligible
- CNCT or R.NCS.T. certification preferred for EMG/NCS
- 1–3 years of experience in EEG and/or EMG strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of neurophysiology and electrophysiological testing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude
- Comfortable working with diverse patient populations
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for electrode application and equipment handling
- Capable of lifting/moving equipment up to 25 lbs
