About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) procedures under the direction of a neurologist or physiatrist
  • Prepare patients and equipment for EEG testing
  • Apply electrodes using the International 10-20 system
  • Monitor EEG recordings and annotate clinical events in real time
  • Assist with long-term monitoring (LTM), ambulatory EEGs, and video EEGs as needed
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout procedures
  • Set up and calibrate EMG and nerve conduction study (NCS) equipment
  • Assist physicians with EMG/NCS procedures, including electrode placement and patient preparation
  • Document waveforms, latency, and amplitude readings accurately
  • Sterilize and maintain EMG equipment and supplies
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Educate patients about procedures and answer questions
  • Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean work environment
  • Provide cross-coverage for other neurodiagnostic modalities as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program or equivalent training
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) preferred or eligible
  • CNCT or R.NCS.T. certification preferred for EMG/NCS
  • 1–3 years of experience in EEG and/or EMG strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of neurophysiology and electrophysiological testing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude
  • Comfortable working with diverse patient populations
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for electrode application and equipment handling
  • Capable of lifting/moving equipment up to 25 lbs
