About the role
- Product development through research, design, and evaluation of mechanical and electrical systems
- Design, build, and test prototypes to support system design activities
- Develop performance models to optimize system efficiency and performance
- Utilize 3‐D CAD system, Autodesk Inventor, to prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Lead and provide technical design
- Update and redesign existing system sand equipment to improve performance and manufacturability
- Prepare performance requirements for equipment and systems
- Review designs against UL, NFPA, NEC, and ASME codes
- Interface with manufacturing, sales, and marketing across all stages of the product development and release process
- Interface with and provide product specifications to suppliers and partners
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in an Engineering Design role
- Proven proficiency in 2‐D & 3‐D CAD systems (i.e., AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor) for design, documentation, and fabrication
- Experience designing enclosures for electronics and electrical systems in hazardous and corrosive environments
- Knowledge of IP and NEMA enclosure ratings
- Experience with complex cable routing and management
- Understanding of electrical schematics and P&ID’s
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills, affable, with demonstrated maturity and professionalism
- Self-starter who can follow tasks through to completion with little guidance
- Ability to work in a team environment to collectively solve problems
- Ability to multi‐task several projects and prioritize workload to meet business specific deadlines
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to follow job required Standards and Safety Protocols, per pre-defined processes
- Must be able to wear Personal Protection Equipment according to OSHA rules and regulations
