About the role
- Deliver wound care services both in-home and through a proprietary audio-visual platform for synchronous remote supervision and real-time clinical collaboration with Nurse Practitioners.
- Provide hands-on evaluation, mentoring, and evidence-based treatment planning for complex wounds (venous ulcers, pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, post-surgical wounds, and other chronic wounds).
- Conduct structured ride-alongs with field clinicians, modeling clinical excellence, documentation integrity, and patient-centered communication.
- Provide clinical oversight for all wound care services delivered within the state, including regular chart reviews, case audits, and peer reviews.
- Serve as the clinical escalation point for Nurse Practitioners and physicians, delivering structured feedback and coaching focused on mastery of wound fundamentals.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and provider development while fostering a culture of high trust, integrity, and accountability.
- Partner with executive leadership to manage health plan and health system relationships, serving as a credible clinical voice in value-based care discussions.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators including healing rates, time to wound closure, hospitalizations, infection, amputation, and utilization metrics.
- Drive measurable improvement through corrective action plans, performance reviews, clinical rounds, and strategic payer meetings.
- Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer on statewide growth strategy, protocol development, and clinical education programming.
- Help refine scalable systems that deliver high-quality care efficiently, with periodic travel to Tennessee for training, leadership development, and quarterly strategic meetings.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
- Wound care certification (CWSP, ABWM, or equivalent advanced wound credential)
- Demonstrated experience managing or supervising mid-level practitioners
- Strong background in complex and at risk wound management
- Experience in value-based care and working with health plans
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering care in a variety of clinical settings
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the state
- Preferred
- Experience in in-home or community-based physician practice models
- Multi-site or multi-region medical leadership experience
- Experience presenting clinical performance data to executive or payer audiences
