About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and ship features on our real-time bidding platform - at 200k+ QPS, performance and correctness are non-negotiable
- Use AI tools hands-on to ship code faster — own what you build end-to-end, from the first prompt to production deployment
- Contribute to rewriting and modernising parts of our legacy platform, using AI tooling to move faster without cutting corners
- Work across the full stack when needed - this isn't a role where backend engineers stop at the API boundary
- Help shaping how the team works with AI day-to-day — what goes into the workflow, what doesn't, and how we raise the bar over time
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of backend engineering experience in a compiled, statically-typed language - Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, C#, or Scala (we use Scala; we'll help you make the switch if your fundamentals are solid)
- Comfortable with distributed systems: consistency trade-offs, failure modes, async processing
- Experience with relational databases and at least one in-memory or NoSQL system (Redis, Aerospike, Cassandra, etc.)
- You've shipped things to production and kept them running - monitoring, alerting, on-call mindset
- Working experience with Git, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines
- You've built and deployed at least one LLM-powered feature in a real product - not just a demo or a hackathon project
- You know how to design prompts for reliable, structured output - and what to do when the model doesn't cooperate
- You've thought about eval strategy: how do you know if your AI feature is working, and how do you catch regressions?
- You understand the cost/latency/quality trade-offs between models and know when not to use an LLM at all
- Bonus: experience with RAG pipelines, tool-calling agents, or vector databases.
Benefits
Comp & perks- Flexible work arrangements: Hybrid work models in cities with physical offices, and remote work options everywhere else.
- Professional development opportunities: Grow with programs like Leaders Assembly for managers, mentorship programs for growing talents, regular learning sessions, and access to external consultants.
- Recognition & rewards: Your efforts matter, so we reward contributions with bonus programs and Bonusly, our peer-to-peer recognition system that turns appreciation into points for gifts and vouchers.
- Additional perks: Private health insurance (location-dependent), volunteer days, and team get-togethers both online and in-person to foster meaningful connections in Eskimi.
- Take a day off to celebrate your birthday! Everyone deserves to unwind and enjoy their special day, so we provide an extra day off just for your birthday.
