About the role
- Lead and manage electrical projects end-to-end, from scoping and design through procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover
- Prepare technical specifications, evaluate tenders, and ensure compliance with Irish / International / ESB standards for quality, safety, and reliability
- Oversee quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements during construction and commissioning, including reviewing risk assessments and method statements
- Coordinate engineering inputs across multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective integration of electrical systems with overall project requirements
- Support team operations through task coordination, mentoring junior engineers, and staying updated on technological advancements
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, manage project budgets and compliance, and contribute to financial and reporting activities
- Drive continuous improvement by optimising processes, supporting asset management strategies, participating in incident investigations, and delivering training initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum five years’ experience in the electricity sector or similar industry
- Primary Degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 8 NFQ or above) or equivalent relevant work experience
- Expertise in the design, commissioning, or operation of electrical systems for power generation or process industries
- Strong ability to work collaboratively and share knowledge within a team
- Demonstrated project engineering and management skills
- Effective decision-making and sound judgment capabilities
- Excellent time management, prioritisation, and computer skills, including MS Office proficiency
- Thorough understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment standards, with strong communication and report writing abilities
- Full clean driving licence
- Ability to perform engineering calculations on design elements to support technical verification and ensure compliance with engineering standards
- Chartered Engineering status with a recognised engineering institution or demonstrable evidence of progress towards same is preferred
- PSDP or PSCS Training / Competency
- Proficient in MS Project
- Familiarity with power system analysis software such as ETAP or equivalent
