About the role

  • Lead and manage electrical projects end-to-end, from scoping and design through procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover
  • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate tenders, and ensure compliance with Irish / International / ESB standards for quality, safety, and reliability
  • Oversee quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements during construction and commissioning, including reviewing risk assessments and method statements
  • Coordinate engineering inputs across multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective integration of electrical systems with overall project requirements
  • Support team operations through task coordination, mentoring junior engineers, and staying updated on technological advancements
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, manage project budgets and compliance, and contribute to financial and reporting activities
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimising processes, supporting asset management strategies, participating in incident investigations, and delivering training initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ experience in the electricity sector or similar industry
  • Primary Degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 8 NFQ or above) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Expertise in the design, commissioning, or operation of electrical systems for power generation or process industries
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and share knowledge within a team
  • Demonstrated project engineering and management skills
  • Effective decision-making and sound judgment capabilities
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation, and computer skills, including MS Office proficiency
  • Thorough understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment standards, with strong communication and report writing abilities
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations on design elements to support technical verification and ensure compliance with engineering standards
  • Chartered Engineering status with a recognised engineering institution or demonstrable evidence of progress towards same is preferred
  • PSDP or PSCS Training / Competency
  • Proficient in MS Project
  • Familiarity with power system analysis software such as ETAP or equivalent
