About the role
- Lead field surveys of historic structures and architectural resources
- Evaluate properties for National Register of Historic Places eligibility
- Assess project effects under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
- Contribute to planning, logistics, and reporting that influence major infrastructure and development projects
- Collaborate with a team of experts to deliver high-quality cultural resource solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 2–4 years of experience in surveying and evaluating historic architectural resources
- Strong knowledge of architectural styles, materials, and NRHP analysis
- Understanding of visual APE and how it is refined based on the project and permitting standards
- Excellent writing skills with attention to detail and QA/QC experience
- Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions
- Willingness to work weekends or overtime when needed
- Ability to travel frequently and on short notice
- Valid driver's license required: position requires operating a company vehicle due to frequent travel
- Familiarity with federal and state agency requirements (USACE, SCC, NPS, FERC, FCC, DEQ) preferred
- Experience with digital SLR photography, GIS, graphics, or database tools preferred
- Comfort navigating rural environments and engaging with the public preferred
