About the role

  • Lead field surveys of historic structures and architectural resources
  • Evaluate properties for National Register of Historic Places eligibility
  • Assess project effects under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
  • Contribute to planning, logistics, and reporting that influence major infrastructure and development projects
  • Collaborate with a team of experts to deliver high-quality cultural resource solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 2–4 years of experience in surveying and evaluating historic architectural resources
  • Strong knowledge of architectural styles, materials, and NRHP analysis
  • Understanding of visual APE and how it is refined based on the project and permitting standards
  • Excellent writing skills with attention to detail and QA/QC experience
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions
  • Willingness to work weekends or overtime when needed
  • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice
  • Valid driver's license required: position requires operating a company vehicle due to frequent travel
  • Familiarity with federal and state agency requirements (USACE, SCC, NPS, FERC, FCC, DEQ) preferred
  • Experience with digital SLR photography, GIS, graphics, or database tools preferred
  • Comfort navigating rural environments and engaging with the public preferred
