About the role
- - Be a safety champion. Drive physical and mental safety for yourself and those you work with, including colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- - Act as process technical leader for simple to intermediate complex projects with minimal supervision.
- - Mentor junior engineers and share expertise across teams.
- - Serve as a technical liaison with a broad range of national and international customers and agents.
- - Assist in solving customer technical problems and recommending innovative solutions.
- - Domestic and international travel (typically 25%, up to 50% during major pilot campaigns).
- - Lead and support lab and pilot testwork, as well as sampling campaigns at existing operations, to demonstrate technology performance, validate value propositions, and drive client engagement.
- - Lead and support Lunch & Learns, tradeshows, and conference presentations and papers to showcase Eriez technologies.
- - Meet with prospective clients and engineering contractors, developing and leveraging contacts and networks.
- - Identify after-market opportunities and support market analysis.
- - Contribute to the development of new products and services, and provide feedback on improvements to existing offerings.
- - Support sales teams with equipment sizing, technology selection, and technical discussions with clients.
- - Review RFQs, complete technical questionnaires, and prepare supporting documentation as needed.
- - Develop engineering deliverables to support proposals (e.g., mass balances and flowsheets).
- - Assist in the preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
- - Analyze test reports and data to inform equipment sizing and selection.
- - Complete detailed process engineering designs for Eriez equipment and systems.
- - Develop process engineering documents, including P&IDs, PFDs, heat and material balances, operating philosophies, functional descriptions, valve and instrument lists, equipment lists, utility descriptions, and datasheets.
- - Participate in 3D model reviews, risk assessment sessions, and mitigation planning before the construction phase.
- - Review installations before start-up and prepare commissioning plans.
- - Lead and support start-up and commissioning activities, including operator training and site team engagement.
- - Identify and implement required modifications as identified through start-up and commissioning activities.
- - Conduct site audits and provide technical recommendations to help clients improve circuit performance with Eriez equipment.
- - Lead and support optimization and troubleshooting activities to ensure sustained client value.
- - Act as a trusted representative and primary point of contact for client operations teams.
- - Identify opportunities for product and service innovation based on lifecycle project experience and client needs.
- - Collaborate with product managers, R&D teams, and internal experts to develop and implement new and improved technologies.
- - Participate in equipment design/modification reviews and provide process input to the mechanical design team.
- - Research, collect, and report on the performance and competitive positioning of Eriez products.
- - Contribute to technical reports, papers, presentations, and lessons learned based on work conducted.
Requirements
- - Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent). Eligible to work in Canada and to obtain a P.Eng. in BC.
- - 5–8 years’ experience in plant operations (preferably base metals), engineering/consulting, or mineral processing equipment OEMs. Lab or pilot testing experience is an asset.
- - Strong knowledge of mineral processing flowsheets (froth flotation), pilot testing, sampling, metallurgical balancing, and equipment selection.
- - Hands-on experience in plant environments with ability to support commissioning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- - Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. French or Spanish language skills are an asset.
- - Proficient in MS Office; experience with metallurgical simulation or engineering software preferred.
