About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Represents ERIE and its insureds in civil litigation from inception through trial and appeal.
- Assesses liability arguments and damages presented and offers timely insights and recommendations to support effective claims resolution.
- Collaborates with claims professionals, experts, and other stakeholders to ensure effective case management and consistent legal strategy.
- Conducts discovery; takes depositions; prepares witnesses for testimony; drafts and argues motions, pleadings, and other court filings; and attends court hearings, pretrial conferences, mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations and trials.
- Mentors junior attorneys and contributes to team development through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Participates in training and development programs to enhance litigation and trial advocacy skills.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
- Ten years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, required.
- Admitted to practice, and in good standing, in Pennsylvania, required.
- Admitted to practice, and in good standing, in the Federal Courts in Pennsylvania, preferred.
- Some periodic or overnight travel required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
