About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides advanced paralegal, administrative, and clerical support to trial attorneys in ERIE’s staff counsel office.
- Supports litigation matters from inception through resolution by managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating discovery, and assisting with trial preparation.
- Performs essential clerical and administrative tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the staff counsel office.
- Drafts, prepares, and assists with pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
- Coordinates discovery, including document management, obtaining authorizations, deposition scheduling, and preparation of summaries and exhibits.
- Conducts legal and factual research and summarizes findings for attorney review.
- Assists with trial, arbitration, and mediation preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness materials, and logistics.
- Manually or electronically files documents in state and federal courts and monitors deadlines to ensure compliance with court rules.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies and three years of litigation paralegal experience; or Associate degree in Paralegal Studies and five years of litigation paralegal experience; or High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of Paralegal experience required.
- Six years of experience in a law firm, insurance staff counsel office, or corporate legal department preferred.
- Notary Public designation preferred or willingness to obtain.
