About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides legal representation to ERIE and its insureds in litigated matters.
  • Oversees day-to-day office operations and ensures alignment with corporate goals and standards.
  • Independently handles a complex caseload.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and performance management to other attorneys and staff within the office.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the local trial office and ERIE’s Home Office Law Division.
  • Manages overall operations of designated area of authority.
  • Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel.
  • Prepares and conducts performance assessments.
  • Monitors and reports on office performance metrics, litigation outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborates with corporate leadership on strategic initiatives and policy implementation.
  • Participates in training and development programs to enhance litigation and trial advocacy skills.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Fifteen years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, required.
  • Admitted to practice, and in good standing, in Pennsylvania required.
  • Admitted to practice, and in good standing, in the Federal Courts in Pennsylvania preferred.
  • Some periodic or overnight travel required.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
