About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute a global tax strategy aligned with corporate growth, international expansion, and entity structure optimization
  • Provide strategic guidance on SaaS-specific tax matters, including revenue recognition and indirect tax implications
  • Drive tax planning initiatives to optimize effective tax rate (ETR) and cash tax outcomes
  • Advise executive leadership and Board members on tax implications of key business decisions and regulatory changes
  • Oversee global tax compliance across income tax, indirect tax (VAT, GST, sales/use), and withholding taxes
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax provisions and financial reporting in accordance with ASC 740
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and global tax authorities
  • Maintain strong internal controls over tax reporting and compliance processes
  • Lead transfer pricing strategy in line with OECD guidelines; design and implement policy enhancements as needed
  • Support cross-border operations, including permanent establishment risk mitigation and tax-efficient structuring
  • Monitor global tax developments and assess business impact
  • Lead tax diligence, structuring, and integration activities for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments
  • Partner with corporate development and legal teams to evaluate tax risks and opportunities in transactions
  • Support post-acquisition tax integration and optimization strategies
  • Oversee global indirect tax strategy, including nexus, VAT/GST compliance, and digital marketplace regulations
  • Ensure compliance with evolving digital taxation frameworks affecting SaaS and subscription models
  • Collaborate with billing, product, and finance teams on tax-sensitive pricing and product decisions
  • Identify and mitigate global tax risks, including audit and controversy management
  • Establish scalable tax processes, systems, and governance frameworks to support growth
  • Ensure compliance with SOX-like internal control standards
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global tax team
  • Drive automation and process improvements using tax technology and data analytics
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with finance, legal, FP&A, treasury, and operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required; MST or JD/LLM (Tax) preferred
  • Significant progressive tax experience, including leadership roles in multinational SaaS or technology companies
  • Combination of public accounting and in-house corporate tax experience preferred
  • Deep expertise in U.S. and international tax, including transfer pricing, indirect tax, ASC 740, and relevant tax codes (e.g., Sections 174 & 382)
  • Proven experience supporting high-growth, private equity-backed, or public SaaS environments
  • Strong track record in M&A tax structuring, diligence, and integration
  • Experience with modern tax technologies and ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Vertex, or Avalara
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to operate hands-on and build scalable processes in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
