About the role

  • Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics to develop industry-leading refrigerated display cases.
  • Perform thermal testing to support product development phases, including prototypes, performance optimization, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support product evolution by enhancing performance, reducing material costs, and qualifying alternative components.
  • Communicate thermal analysis results to guide product design and improvements.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies; propose innovations to refrigeration and air management components.
  • Design and size evaporator coils, piping, and flow control components.
  • Develop and execute test plans to qualify products against FDA, NSF, DOE, in-house, and customer requirements.
  • Carry out qualification tests for refrigeration components and validate system performance.
  • Anticipate regulatory changes and adapt test methods and design practices accordingly.
  • Utilize CFD and heat transfer simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, CFX, Siemens Simcenter) and CAD modeling tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Author protocols, SOPs, and technical documentation to support R&D Lab operations.
  • Partner with design teams to surface defects early and propose corrective actions.
  • Contribute to Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Design to Cost initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, teamwork, and respect within the R&D Lab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years of experience (or Master’s degree with 3+ years).
  • 2+ years of experience in thermal-flow analysis preferred.
  • Experience with CFD & HT tools (ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, Siemens Simcenter) preferred.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems (LabView preferred).
  • Experience with coding in Excel VBA, C++, or Python preferred.
  • Experience with CAD modeling tools (SolidWorks preferred).
