About the role

  • Create and manage 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of powertrain components (motor housings, inverter enclosures, gearbox casings, shafts, bearings, seals, etc.).
  • Develop gearbox layouts, transmission systems, and tolerance stack-up analyses.
  • Apply GD&T; and DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturability and assembly feasibility.
  • Collaborate with electrical and thermal teams for mechanical-electrical-thermal integration.
  • Provide CAD support for FEA/thermal simulations and iterate based on analysis feedback.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors on prototype manufacturing, machining, and assembly.
  • Participate in design reviews and documentation control for aerospace compliance.
  • Support test and validation activities for subsystems and integrated powertrain assemblies.

Requirements

  • B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical/Automotive/Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design (EV, aerospace, or automotive powertrain preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of gearbox/transmission design, bearings, and sealing systems.
  • Familiarity with GD&T; tolerance analysis, and ISO/AGMA gear standards.
  • Exposure to thermal management systems (liquid/oil cooling, heat exchangers).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes – machining, casting, additive manufacturing.
  • Strong documentation and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred: Experience with high-power electric motor/inverter packaging (200 kW+).
  • Preferred: Exposure to FEA/CAE tools (ANSYS, SimScale, etc.).
  • Preferred: Knowledge of aerospace/aviation standards (RTCA DO-160G, DO-254, MIL-STD).
  • Preferred: Hands-on involvement in prototype assembly and rig testing.
