About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 8 commercial tractors and trailers, including bodies, systems, and components
  • Write detailed work orders
  • Perform mobile road calls and/or in-yard repairs
  • Provide prompt, quality customer service and respond to client queries
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires, hubs, and axles
  • Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Test systems and equipment for performance issues
  • Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road-safety requirements
  • Compile inspection reports and document repairs
  • Report findings to management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience repairing commercial tractors and trailers
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and no suspensions
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Comfortable working with computers for billing and work orders
  • Ability to follow verbal and written work orders
  • Ability to explain diagnoses over the phone and help customers decide next steps on repairs
  • Experience with welding preferred as a differentiator
  • Own tools preferred as a differentiator
