About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair customers' Class 8 commercial tractors and trailers
- Write detailed work orders for mobile road calls and/or in-yard work
- Provide quality customer service
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet semi-trucks and trailers
- Maintain hubs and axles, adjusting or replacing them when required
- Inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires
- Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Test systems and equipment for performance issues
- Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements
- Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management
- Respond to client queries as soon as possible
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of verified commercial tractor and trailer repair experience
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift 100+ pounds
- Basic computer skills to submit repairs for billing
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Basic reading and writing skills to complete customer repair orders
- Welding experience is helpful; certification is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent is a plus
- Technical school degree is a plus
- Own tools
