About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair customers’ commercial tractors and trailers
- Write detailed work orders for mobile road calls and in-yard work
- Provide quality customer service
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet semi-trucks and trailers
- Maintain hubs and axles and adjust or replace them when required
- Inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires
- Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Test systems and equipment for performance issues
- Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements
- Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management
- Respond to client queries as soon as possible
- Work 12-hour shifts with an on-call rotation while remaining available for service calls
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 5 years of experience as an experienced mobile diesel mechanic, based on the stated starting pay amount
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial tractors and trailers
- Experience inspecting and repairing semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance for fleet semi-trucks and trailers
- Ability to maintain, adjust, and replace hubs and axles
- Ability to inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires
- Knowledge of brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to test systems and equipment for performance issues
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements
- Ability to write detailed work orders and compile inspection reports
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in an on-call rotation
