About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Gain an understanding of basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques.
  • Learn how to complete all work orders, perform maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections.
  • Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations.
  • Assist senior level technicians in performing PM Inspections and large projects.
  • Learn how to identify defects requiring correction.
  • Adjust brakes, clutches, and other utilities that are part of the vehicle or other equipment.
  • Adjust hydraulic pressures and other hydraulic components on any equipment.
  • Perform tire changes and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
  • Build, rebuild or replace hydraulic components and hoses on any vehicle/stationary equipment.
  • Learn how to perform accurate lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with CAT, Detroit, Cummins or International engines is a definite asset.
  • Experience with Freightliner/Western Star, Volvo/Mack, Kenworth/Peterbilt International or Mitsubishi, is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Experience with brake adjustments.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn and be trained.
  • Experience with oil changes.
  • Completion of a trade school program or at least 1 year of diesel mechanic experience.
  • Drive and responsibility to work independently.
