Mobile Diesel Technician Apprentice

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Gain an understanding of basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques.
- Learn how to complete all work orders, perform maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections.
- Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations.
- Assist senior level technicians in performing PM Inspections and large projects.
- Learn how to identify defects requiring correction.
- Adjust brakes, clutches, and other utilities that are part of the vehicle or other equipment.
- Adjust hydraulic pressures and other hydraulic components on any equipment.
- Perform tire changes and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
- Build, rebuild or replace hydraulic components and hoses on any vehicle/stationary equipment.
- Learn how to perform accurate lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with CAT, Detroit, Cummins or International engines is a definite asset.
- Experience with Freightliner/Western Star, Volvo/Mack, Kenworth/Peterbilt International or Mitsubishi, is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Experience with brake adjustments.
- Willingness and aptitude to learn and be trained.
- Experience with oil changes.
- Completion of a trade school program or at least 1 year of diesel mechanic experience.
- Drive and responsibility to work independently.
