About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take ownership of identifying, securing and delivering new Habitat Bank opportunities across the South of England, helping to accelerate nature recovery where it's needed most.
  • Work closely with the Head of Land (South) and collaborate with regional Land and Ecology colleagues to shape and deliver a strong pipeline of high-quality Habitat Bank projects.
  • Support and mentor Land Managers within the wider team, sharing knowledge and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Build trusted relationships with landowners, farmers and land agents, identifying opportunities to create Habitat Banks that deliver long-term value for both the environment and our partners.
  • Develop a regional pipeline by proactively identifying and assessing land that aligns with Environment Bank's strategic priorities and biodiversity objectives.
  • Prioritise opportunities based on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) demand, market insights and commercial considerations, working closely with Sales and Finance teams to maximise impact.
  • Lead the end-to-end due diligence process, coordinating with Ecology, Habitat Delivery, Legal and Finance teams to evaluate site suitability and progress projects efficiently.
  • Oversee the planning and consenting process for Habitat Bank creation, ensuring projects move smoothly from initial opportunity through to delivery.
  • Prepare, present and negotiate commercial offers with landowners, balancing strong commercial judgement with a partnership-focused approach.
  • Guide landowners through every stage of the onboarding journey, providing clear communication, expert advice and an outstanding experience from first conversation through to contract completion.
  • Represent Environment Bank at regional and national events, building our profile within the rural community and inspiring landowners, farmers and agents to become part of the UK's nature recovery journey.
  • Act as an ambassador for Environment Bank, championing our mission and helping to establish long-lasting partnerships that create measurable biodiversity gains across the region.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience of working directly with farmers and landowners, in a professional capacity.
  • MRICS/CAAV or relevant professional qualifications are essential in this role.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Farm Business Tenancies and relevant environmental matters related to rural land management.
  • Proven ability of using Land Registry and other publicly available legal and land management data sources.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including the ability to present to groups and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Organised and self-starting, capable of managing personal schedule, maintaining records, and prioritising tasks effectively.
  • Full UK clean driving license and willingness to travel for regional site visits and events.
  • Numerate and computer literate with a strong understanding of data analysis and manipulation.
