About the role

  • Create figures, maps and web apps to communicate geospatial data and information effectively and engagingly to stakeholders and team members.
  • Perform spatial analysis using GIS software to support the identification of suitable restoration sites, assess habitat condition, and evaluate project progress.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across EB to provide geospatial support for biodiversity restoration projects and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Directly support field ecologists in the collection and processing of habitat and related environmental data.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for further training and keep up to date with the latest tools and techniques.

Requirements

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Up to 1 year of experience in the GIS sector or equivalent transferable experience.
  • Passion for biodiversity restoration, ecology, and the environment.
  • Strong team player with a proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro software and its extensions.
  • Understanding of data management principles and quality assurance/control.
  • Interest in or experience with scripting and process automation tools (e.g., ArcGIS Model Builder, ArcPy, etc.).
  • Ability to work both independently and as a valuable contributor to a remote geospatial analytic team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • An MSc in Geographical Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience within the ecology and environment sector.
  • Familiarity with other GIS and related software (e.g., QGIS, GRASS, IDISRI, Mapbox, etc.).
  • Interest in emerging GIS and related technology/data areas (e.g., remote sensing, LIDAR data, Photogrammetry, Machine Learning, etc.).
  • Knowledge of web GIS applications and the creation of web maps and web apps (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, ArcGIS Online, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with in-field data capture forms for deployment to field workers.
  • Understanding of programming languages and software development (e.g., Javascript, Python, .NET, Arcade, R, etc.).
  • Awareness of technological advances and industry trends related to geospatial data.
